Beauty
At Waters Edge Eco Lodge, we’re committed to making responsible decisions that minimise our impact on the environment and our Earth. No one is perfect, but we know that every act that benefits the environment brings us closer to harmony.
It’s our hope to bring awareness to conservation and eco-friendly practices. Wherever possible, we choose environmental sustainability. See more of our practices below.
Our Practices

Pollinator friendly
Landscaping is at a minimum to reduce fossil fuel emissions from lawn mowing and reduce disturbance to the natural environment allowing native Saskatchewan species to flourish.
Harmony
We live in harmony with the wild animals on the land and try not to disturb them.
We encourage all visitors to enjoy and appreciate our natural world.
Construction On The Land
While construction is generally not an environmentally-friendly industry, we aimed to reduce waste and negative impacts wherever possible. Here are some of the things we did to make our building more sustainable:
- Recycled product packaging and empty paint cans
- Saved leftover construction materials for future use
- Used local labour and locally sourced materials whenever possible
- Incorporated reclaimed lumber into the building design
We also had all labourers stay on-site as often as possible to reduce travel emissions throughout the construction process.
Energy From The Land
Waters Edge Eco Lodge is proud to have a geothermal heating and cooling system that harnesses the energy from the land through underground loops. Solar energy is absorbed by the ground resulting in a consistent and moderate year-round temperature below the floors. This system allows us to significantly reduce our fossil fuel emissions.
Food From The Land
At Waters Edge Eco Lodge, we bring the beauty of nature to the table with our garden-to-plate restaurant. Our chefs handpick fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables from our gardens, ensuring that every dish is bursting with local flavours straight from the earth. By incorporating ingredients grown on-site, we offer a unique dining experience while reducing our carbon footprint and staying committed to sustainable practices.
Every plate tells a story of the earth’s generosity. Our quick service menu is available as long as we have a chef in-house, and follow our social accounts for updates on occasional fine dining weekends.
The 3 Rs – Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
Recycling, reducing, and reusing were at the forefront of our thoughts during the construction, design, and operation of Waters Edge Eco Lodge. Many recycle bins are located around the lodge, available to store recycled materials before they are hauled to recycling depots. Waters Edge Eco Lodge takes measures to reduce waste wherever we can. This comes in many forms, from using cloth napkins to installing low-flow taps that conserve water. We encourage guests to consider the 3 Rs and environmental sustainability to elevate their connection to nature while staying with us.
